All right, some of you may have noticed the CPU errors we've been getting at MoGu--growing pains for a growing site! I have recoded the whole site to straight code instead of using the CMS I was using--not because it was a buggy CMS, but because I can't afford my own server, which is what the CMS deserved! Bottom line is you should notice a much quicker site, and no more errors! Thanks--stick around, we're growing like crazy!
if it helps...
Common Mods.
by
There are literally hundreds of mods you can do to your phone, but I will list some of the most common mods here. Most of what will be listed is seem edits, my favorite will be on here, as well as others people do frequently. Again, this is just some of the most popular. Try the seem map if you want to do something which is not listed here.
Directions for the following mods are included on this page:
Any others you think I should add, feel free to contact me by !
Adding Video! By far the most requested feature to add is video. Many people actually just jump into modding and say "How do I add video to my Razr?" without reading a single guide. ;) All right, so how do you do it?
1. Edit seem 0032_0001>offset 70>bit 6 (checked) and upload the edited seem to your phone. (see the seem editing section if this is beyond you...)
2. Edit seem 004a_0001>offset 1D3>change value to 01. (You don't have to do bit manipulation here, when the offset is highlighted, simply type "01" and make sure the value of that offset changes to "01" and upload the edited seem to your phone.
3. You have to edit mma menu file. You can use program like P2KMenuEditor (528 kb download) to activate Video Camera menu under Multimedia.
Increase maximum volume. For some people, the earpiece/speaker/ringtone volume on the Razr just isn't loud enough, even when turned all the way up to level 7... Not to worry! You can adjust the maximum available volume of the phone by downloading the gain_table.bin (which is located in the /a directory of your Razr) file from the phone (using P2K Manager) and open it in XVI32 to edit. (See the seem editing section if this is beyond you...) The following is a list of the relevant offsets and what they control:
I usually set phones at 3 or 4 for the earpiece volume (remember you can still change it from the phones software by simply pressing the side buttons during a call) and for speakerphone as well. Anything higher than that and you risk blowing your speaker, so DON'T DO IT!
How do I install a new theme ? Check out the Installing Skins page.
Turn on auto-update for date/time. If your phone does not currently automatically update its time/date settings, there are two bits you need to change to turn this feature on:
1. Seem 0032_0001>offset 00>bit 0. (see the seem editing section if this is beyond you...) This adds the Settings>Initial Setup>Time and Date>Autoupdate menu. (Set the bit to 1 (checked) to turn it on, and 0 (unchecked) to turn it off).
2. Seem 0032_0001>offset 55 >bit 2. This actually turns the feature on in your phone. (Set the bit to 1 to turn it on, and 0 to turn it off).
After both these seem edits are done, make sure to go to (from the home screen) Menu>Settings>Initial Setup>Time and Date>Autoupdate>On and make sure it is set to On.
I want my speakerphone call to stay active when I close the flip. Simple enough, just edit seem 0032_0001>offset 8A>bit 2. Set it at 1 (checked) and the call WILL disconnect when you close the flip. Set it to 0 (unchecked) and the call will remain active when you close the flip.
Cl.gif. Changing the picture on the outer display when your phone is open. Well, first off, lets get it out in the open: you CANNOT put an animated image on the outer display. Period. It won't work. And when the phone is CLOSED, you will see the image which is your current wallpaper--that also can't be changed. Sorry. ;) That being said, lets show you how to change that picture.
1. the image should be of a dimension of 96x80 pixels. The file HAS to be name cl.gif (small letters), and that it MUST be a gif file. Even when it's NAMED cl.gif it doesn't mean that it's a gif file.
2. connect ur phone with p2kcommander, then go to /a/mobile/system/ and u'll see a cl.gif. u can simply replace the 'old' cl.gif with the new one (by clicking on "pc to phone" and selecting the new cl.gif), but i think it's best if u first delete the old cl.gif file, then upload the new one and restart the phone.
3. if it doesn't work by following number 2, it's possible that u would need to do some seem editing. first u need to seem edit seem 004a_0001 offset 27 and set the value to 00. then u need to point 0061_0001 and 0062_0001 seem to 'point' to the cl.gif: note that on the right hand side, it reads "[]/[]a[]/[]m[]o[]b[]i[]l[]e[]/[]s[]y[]s[]t[]e[]m[]/[]c[]l[].[]g[]i[]f[][]". make sure that both 0061 and 0062 seems are pointing towards the correct file in the correct folder (so both of them should be like the picture above).
4. upload the edited 004a, 0061 and 0062 seem upload the new cl.gif to /a/mobile/system/, then u're done.
Getting more than 8 seconds of video recording. Many people get video finally enabled on their phone, or have it already enabled from the factory, and are disappointed to find they can only record 8 seconds of video at a time. There is a quick easy fix to this issue. Simply make two changes in the menus (assuming you already have video enabled)
1. From the home screen, go to Menu>Messages>Menu>Message Setup>MMS Message Setup>Size Limit>None. Make sure it is set to None. All right, thats the first step, now, on to step...
2. Navigate to Menu>Multimedia>Videos>Menu>Videos Setup>Video Length>MMS. Again, make sure it is on MMS.
Ok, a couple little things here: the videos (even with this method done) won't record longer than a minute.
Also, if you can't find either of those menu settings, make sure you have them both enabled in your seem 0032. See the seem editing section if you aren't familiar with seem editing.
To enable the video length menu (assuming you already have video enabled), you'll need to edit seem 0032>offset 6E>bit 3 (1 on, 0 off).
To enable the Size Limit menu in the MMS Message Setup menu, edit see 0032>offset 7F>bit 0 (1 on, 0 off).
